Thank you so much for such an informative article. I am the proud owner of an apple tree thoroughly infested with apple maggots. Besides bagging, do you know of any other home remedies to eliminate these pests? I read about a vinegar mixture that is put in gallon milk jugs and hung from the tree. Are you familiar with it? Do you think it would be worth a shot? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with this method.

Besides bagging, the only nonspraying approach I've seen work is the sticky pheromone trap. But those are a real mess to deal with.
