Hi Dave,
I read both this article and the one you wrote regarding poisonous holidays plants, and wanted to say thanks for offering medical information on plants that effect cats, since every other site makes it seem that 90% of the plant world will kill them instantly.
I was looking through some of these sites today, and realized that many plants I've had around the house have technically been poisonous (fiddle leaf fig, aloe, etc.) and my cat seems to instinctively know which plants aren't good for her as she doesn't eat those, but she will chew on palms, fern moss, etc. I just recently added a split leaf philodendron to my plant collection and am wondering if you or any of your readers know how dangerous this plant is to cats? I'm assuming that my cat will probably not eat it if its not good for her, but if philodendrons are too risky with cats I will get rid of it.
Any thoughts/knowledge about these plants? Does anyone else have cats that seem to 'know' what to eat and what not to eat?
All philodendrons are toxic, though mildly so... in a way that will cause drooling and probably vomiting- not much more (again, most cats will not chew on such things).
