I am hoping someone can help me figure this out. We have an approx 8 year old GE WJSR2080T washing machine. It was squeaking a little during the spin cycle, but I thought it was just because it was off balance or something. All of the sudden it stopped spinning the water out of the clothes. It does drain the water and agitate. I don't know if you are supposed to be able to manually spin the bucket inside the washer-but I can't spin mine.

I have taken the front off the washer. The motor spins and the belt moves during the agitate cycle. As soon as you turn it to spin cycle the motor spins but the belt does not move. Any ideas on what could be wrong? I hate to buy a new machine if it's an easy fix.

Thank you,

Tracy

Tracy, sounds like the belt is loose. Did something come loose in there that allowed the belt to sit still? Get your model number and google the mfg and do it that way if you can't find your book. If you do have your book, look for troubleshooting first. If that doesn't work, then go into google and see if you can't find it that way.

Most of those people are really helpful. And, if you need a part they will send it right out. We live a long distance into rural and believe me the repairmen charge big time for trip fees.

Let me know. I used to repair mine all the time years ago and believe it or not I really enjoyed it. Just the excitement when I got it right!! I know, I am weird.
