Thank you, Paul, for this article, which I just read as a random fun article on DG. My primary goal when I retire (hopefully soon) is to take a MG course and become certified. Your article has served to reinforce this decision and I can't wait to get started! MG courses in NC are offered by the local County Extension offices.

Thank you for clarifying some of the misinformation about MGs.

I live in NC and would love to become a Master Gardener but I don't think my local co-op is offering the classes anytime soon. Help!!!

Ed:

Have you contacted the local extension office to inquire about the schedule for these classes? Maybe a nearby county is offering them, Wilkes or Watauga. Just a thought.

Yes, I did. They start in January. I hope to start then.

Thanks!

Sounds like a strange time in the mountains to be starting MG classes, but I'm not the scheduler! When I retire (hopefully soon), MG classes are at the top of my list :-)

It seemed strange to me too. I guess the benefit is that it will turn spring during the course.
