So now I know why some of my plants are barely surviving: my rodgersia has tiny leaves, my expensive and special podophyllum from the real Heronswood had very tiny leaves, my trumpet lilies have thin little stalks, some of my lilies are completely gone. Voles. They have tunneled throughout my garden. I know it isn't moles because there is no mound. Just a round entrance hole. I was working in my neighbor's garden yesterday and noticed some of the lilies I planted for her were sideways. Upon digging them up, we saw little tooth marks where something had been chewing. I am so mad! There is no way I can protect each and every plant out there. Does anyone have experience with these creatures? I spent a couple of hours today walking through all of my gardens collapsing the tunnels. I know that will only slow them down. Now what?
I'm seeing no indication that these lilies still exist for me.
