I am also a SoCal gardener with BW heebie geebies. I'm guessing that we have 100's of the creatures. And yes, they do reside in the potted aloe's. Something about grabbing the plastic-like web that really gets your heart pounding. I garden with gloves not for the BW but the toll that gardening takes on my skin. Note; before you put those gloves on you might want to give them a squeeze in case any of our little friends are nesting inside. And I always garden in flip flops. Not such a great idea since we also have rattlers but they are the fastest weapon to hand when encountering a BW. I actually didn't know what to do when I came across a BW when I was wearing shoes. So I just ran.
