Other names, Cape Gooseberry, Golden Berry. 'Physalis peruviana'

I'm looking at the Kitazawa website.

Hi, I've been absent for a while, but I'm back now, the moaning owner of a house that was built in 1968 and has had no maintenance since then.

Poha berry??

Mm

Hi Molamola, Poha Berry, Physalis peruviana, is a Husk Tomato that is fairly small but sweet when ripe. It is in the Tomato or Nightshade Family, Solanaceae.

In Hawai'i, it was introduced in the early 1800's and is wild in many areas from near sea-level to 6,000 ft., but you'll have a hard time beating the birds to the fruit!

Poha Berry is raised commercially. You can eat the fruit raw or cooked. It makes great salsa!

It is an easy to raise garden plant!

Aloha, Dave

Phooey, I can't eat it, a nightshade.

Maybe I'll grow some for the birds. Would they leave alone my mangoes?

If you don't eat the Poha, you'll be creating a bird sanctuary!

God bless the little kitties,

they have a tail to tell.

While others may go hungry,

they're eating very well!
