I planted this Crimson Queen two winters back here in the North Georgia mountains (Zone 7A). It has been sprouting these branches with green leaves which are not at all like the purple lace leaves of the original plant.
The tree was damaged in its first year by a late frost which destroyed the first set of leaves. It came back but some branches were damaged.
I'm a novice gardener but have read these trees are propagated by grafting. Are these new branches coming from the original trunk? Should I be cutting off these branches or will they eventually turn into lace leaf branches?
