I live in zone3A, could I bring the bulbs in for the winter and keep them in my cold room?

Crown Imperials don't like to be out of the soil for an extended period of time. That's why planting instructions always say to plant the bulbs as soon as you receive them. However, you might try growing CI bulbs in a large pot. The pot could be free-standing or you could bury it up to the rim in soil. Before the ground freezes in the fall, bring the pot inside and keep it in a cool room. I suspect that the bulbs need a certain amount of time in temperatures below fifty degrees, but above freezing. If your cold room doesn't get that cold, it might be enough to bring your pot indoors as late as possible and then set it outdoors again after nighttime temperatures remain above freezing.
