I have some fritillaria in front of my house that were there when I moved in. I had to resort to my books to find out what they were, but imperial fritillaria is what I have. I live in SE Michigan and they are the first plant to appear every spring. There were four when I moved here, but I now have nine plants, however only two of them get flowers - one is orange and one is yellow. After reading your information, I think I will try transplanting a couple of them this fall. They are a true conversation piece.
