Good article
Just a note on what to avoid, at least in our area, unless you want the bulbs spreading all over the place: Avoid
(1) Chionodoxa forbesii (luciliae)
(2) Puschkinia libanotica
(3) Scilla sibirica
My experience with these, is they will invade the lawn and then potentially invade your neighbours property. Personally, I would only use bulbs that spread by bulb division, not seeding. 'Will naturalize' and 'forms drifts' may be a warning - I strongly suspect that the above have the potential to invade natural areas.
I think, at this stage, that Chionodoxa 'Giant Pink'/'Pink Giant' stays in a clump, though I have been told otherwise; so not sure.
