Taters, I started a new room last year .14x16 . It's on a slope from the house and got concrete block walls up and sub floor on that . Will frame the room up this year hopefully and the tiles will cover the floor . digger
Way to Go Sis!! Freebies are great, ...How do you manage that?? LOL!
that room is going to be great, Tile floors are going to make it sooo easy to clean!
I love it , I love it ! Most of the good stuff is too far away to go get , even if your the first to call . We're on the north side of Atlanta 80 mi . Most of that stuff is 50 miles south of us .
deni , you sure made a haul .
Linda , I spent a night in Del Rio . All I saw was 6 or 8 houses , and they said the border was thataway . It was nite and the lake was low and I went S . dipping and stepped on a broken beer bottle . It had to be pulled out . When I saw the lake the next morning , darn near fainted . All that's another story , don't ask questions . lol
Hi, Oofie , I'm on the countdown to Tex .
Synda , do you have Craigs List close to you ? digger
Out at the lake, there used to be a few house out there, but not that way now. They are selling off all kinds of lake front property for big bucks, and now it is all big houses out there! Don't know where they get that kind of money? But in town, there are lots of houses, just like any other town. Yep we are right on the Mexico border, but we don't go over but once every 3 -4 years or so! The drug cartell is ruling everything, even the cops, so it is getting very risky to cross over now! Sorry to hear about your foot getting cut up! Everyone here knows they have to wear shoes when they go to the lake. Just for the darn rocks they have there.
I was in an 18 wheeler and couldn't go everywhere to look . I was close to the border after leaving the lake and the place looked like an intersection with dirt streets . Guess I didn't get to the main part of town . digger
So you drive the big rigs, or you just a passenger? Del Rio has a population of about 40 - 50 thousand people, so it is not a big town, but not a tiny one either! Sounds like you needed to go further, and see more.
digger9083 OUCH!!!! Hope you got a tet shot after that ...
jvdl1,
Yes it was a gym floor .. It was put in with a clip system so Its never been nailed ..
3/4" maple I called around and if you can find it in a store its $15.00 & up a sqft.
It has a hard finish on it and I think we will leave it as is .. Put the paint in the pantry or laundry room, maybe a closet or two...LOL I can live with the paint :)
Free anything is exciting to me. Pretty flooring, and goodness digger,I found a small box of leftover tile at a yard sale and had to pay 7.00 for it...Sure would love a freebie!
Taters ,me and my second ex pulled mobile homes nationwide . I didn't drive but was on the road and doing a lot of labor that goes with it . My third ex and I ordered an eighteen wheeler , a new Kenworth, and you bet I drove . We leased it to Melton truck lines out of Shreveport, La. I loved the road and still do . The founder died b-4 we leased on and the kids just couldn't keep it afloat . We divorced , and shortly after that , the kids sold out . The original Melton had a hugh rabbit on the trailers . The company's nickname ," The Running Rabbit"
Del Rio is a whole different story . I should write a book . In between all this I was an independent insurance agent . 34 years . That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. lol , digger
Taters, I have no desire to see any other country other than all 50 of our states . there can't be more beauty any where in the world than we have . Haven't seen Alaska or Hawaii or 3 states in the northeast . Canada would be nice to visit , but that's it , seen the rest of it . When the military men got out of the service , the military used to pay to move their mobile homes back home or where ever they wanted to live , or from base to base, when they transferred . It's amazing how much of the country you can see , when you visit all the little towns and country berg homes of those men and women . I loved it . digger
Yep, that is a lot of driving for sure. I have spent 6 months i n Belgium, and I loved it! I agree, nothing like coming back to your own home! Because ex hubby was in the Air Force, we moved alot too. We have driven from Michigan, to Missouri, and to Texas! I just decided to settle here, after the divorce!
I've started reading Craigslist for San Diego and there were a lot of great freebies--I think someone was giving away half opened boxes of tile also! Lots of dirt (we need that), free trees (palms) which you have to dig up (haha). Our problem is we sold our 1961 GMC last year bec it took up too much room in the garage. $700--same price we paid that for it in 1978. The point is without a truck we're out of luck.
