We have a capstone, mortared patio that's never been sealed. I've put it off, but it has to be done this year. I can't decide whether to use a gloss sealer or not. I like the color of the patio when it's wet. The capstones have lots of color in them. That's why I'm thinking gloss, but I don't want it to look fake. Has anyone used a gloss sealer on their stone and did you like the way it turned out? What brand of sealer did you use? Or do you recommend not using gloss?
Gloss finish will make it slippery when it's wet, even the ones that say non-slip. It's just a matter of preference. If you like it and are aware of the potential slip hazard, go for it.
