I looked up Alocasia amazonica and Alocasia "Purpley" and want to know if they are the same thing since they have two different profiles.

Alocasia "Purpley" should be Alocasia x amazonica "Purpley", to be totally accurate. The Purpley is a sport or selection from a group of Alocasia x amazonica plants. So although they came from the same cross, they are not the exact same plant.
