Hi. Recently built home, cleared lot and have lots of roots sticking up from clay soil. Do we need to pull these roots out before laying sod over them? Does anything need to be done to amend the soil, as it is clay, before we lay the sod down to ensure lawn lives??? Any help would be appreciated. I want to get a jump on this before the grass comes! Thanks!
Clear the roots best you can or you may have small trees/shrubs ect. poking up thru your grass sod and ruin the lawn you are trying to create! If the soil is mostly clay ammending it will probularly help ~ some organic soil and some top soil to help with nutrients and drainage. Talk with the people you are getting the grass sod from they should know best what soil your sod will prefer! Best of the good luck!
