I have had a plant called Ladies Mantle in my garden for about 8 years. This year, a few leaves have sprouted at the edge of it. The center seems to be dead. Has anyone ever divided this plant before? Should I just try to root the few leaves?

I would dig it up and divide the roots. That way you will also see what's going on with the root system and why it's dead in the center.

Thank you both. I have dug it up and divided it into 3 small sections. I'm afraid I can't really tell anything from looking at the roots. I just put them into 3 small pots and will try to grow them on for a month, then set them back in the garden. Thanks for your help.
