I have a few sky pencils (ilex crenata) here in Zone 9b and they've been in the ground for months, doing just fine. Each is about 4 feet tall.
We had a lot of rain recently (as you may know) and the last few days one suddenly looked DEAD, as in crunchy and dried DEAD. The others now are dropping leaves like crazy when you run your hand lightly over them, but are otherwise still green and healthy "looking." Until you touch them, that is.
Any ideas? I really don't want to lose these plants. They weren't cheap.
Thanks in advance for any help.
