According to the Botanical Garden, I'm to cut back by half. Does this mean the top half? or every other stem? or something else, entirely? I cut off all of the spent flower stems before reading that I should have left them on the plant to turn brown. (Oooops!) It'll be better next year, as I'll have more knowledge by then. Any information you can pass on will be greatly appreciated.

Usually, when they say "cut the plant back by half" they mean cut the top. If your plant is a foot tall make it 6 inches tall.
