Another way to prevent cutworm damage is to wrap your seedlings in 2 inch strips cut from a newspaper or a paper grocery bag. Just like with the toilet paper or paper towel centers, leave half of it above and half below the dirt line. And you don't have to remove them! As the plant matures, the paper will compost into the ground.
