Hi everyone, I need to vent some frustration and hope for some help in encouraging customers to respect a growers only type of market. Our growers only market is losing customers because they don't seem to understand the concept. Growers Only means you sell what you are growing.
Early in the season means asparagus, lettuce, onions, greens, beets, etc...
Not tomatoes and watermelons and corn!
They come look and leave. Only stopping to ask, "Where are the tomatoes?" When is the corn coming? Why dont you have watermelons?
Getting prepared all winter, growing seedlings, for months, planting, worrying, etc... You feel excited and proud to come to the early market with your first harvest, and then you sit there for 4 hours waiting for some glimmer of excitement from the customers and all you get is "What else do you have?" "When is the good stuff ready?"
Anyone else have the early market blues? We should write a song... Any way,,, Good Luck to Everyone else in the business.
