I've been hearing a lot of local growers having problems with CTV. I've never seen it on my plants before so this is a new one for me. I noticed it about 2 weeks ago. But it hadn't got bad until a day or 2 ago. CTV is described as...
"Symptoms include stunted growth, upcurled leaves, purple veining, and death of infected plants. Fruit is small and ripens prematurely."
Stunted growth...yup, hasn't grown much at all in the past 2 weeks.
Upcurled leaves...nope, if anything they are slightly curled downward.
Purple Veining... A lot!
Fruit is small...yup, not near the size of the others of the same kind/size.
Only the middle of the plant's leaves turn yellow. Weird thing is they don't die and feel healthy. Not brittle at all.
Initially I thought it was a nutrient deficiency. Now, I'm almost sure it's CTV. In the meantime the plant has been quarantined, awaiting to be chopped down. Any feedback would be great. Are my suspicions correct?
I have named my garden "The CDC" (Center for Disease Control) I've seen leaf spot, cankers and now possibly CTV this year. It's been really interesting so far. Can't wait to see what's next :)
