Got this 4 gal potted plant at Rose Bowl flea market last weekend. Was not identified, but seller suspected this is what it was. Dug hole next to planter 3 on southwest side fully facing sun... hope it does well despite the clay soils there (amended them a bit, and raised up a tad). About 2.5' tall to start with

Ow... only a mostly green and somewhat browned stick after freeze. Wonder what it will do in spring since its growth tip appears necrotic.

Bummer... top 2/3 of plant rotted and dried up... cut off and see small 'branches' forming down below.. but not sure how that's gonna work out... maybe have to dig up and start over. Freeze very very bad to this plant.

dead stem cut off.. .and branching well below... but what will happen? will one branch decide it has to be the new stem?
