This grows in some parts of the country as a 'wild' flower. It grows here as a perennial plant, but I ran across a patch of this growing in an old cemetery where it appears to have self-seeded. The old cemetery dates back to the mid-1800's and is quite run down with crumbled headstones and grave markers whose inscriptions are barely legible. While visiting there I noticed an old rose that surrounded an grave marker and also several old iris clumps. But the most prominent thing I noticed was the Indian Blanket (aka, Gaillardia or Blanket Flower).

Insects and weeds had over-run this patch of Gaillardia, but I did manage to get one shot of a fairly intact bloom.
