Since childhood I have loved this tree, and primarily because of its gorgeous fall foliage. I am also fond of the tea that is easily brewed from its dried roots and tastes a lot like "root beer". I have seen it growing along fencerows and roadsides, as well as bordering around wooded areas. It is spectacular in fall color.
