If you have multiple application windows open and don't know how to easily switch between them, this is for you. Let's say you have been working on a letter to Aunt Millie in WordPerfect and you've also opened your browser to check out the latest here at DG. Oh, and your e-mail is open, too! :o)
There are two main ways to toggle between these open windows. Here's the first, involving your mouse and your Windows Task Bar.
Direct your mouse pointer down to the bottom of your screen.
Your Task Bar will pop up, with little rectangles lined up to the right of your Start Button. These rectangles show which programs are open.
If you hover your mouse over each rectangle, on some you'll see an expanded description of what each window is (for example, the rectangle for an open Internet Explorer window will tell you the website that's open in the window).
To go to a different window, just click on the rectangle for the window you want to go to.
Now that you've mastered the task bar, here's another way to toggle between open windows, using just your keyboard:
Hold down your ALT key - and keep holding it down.
Then, still holding down that ALT key, tap your TAB key
A little window will pop up and you'll see an icon for each window you have open.
Tap the TAB key once (yes, you're still holding down the ALT key)
You'll see the little box move from one icon to the next one. Notice also there are brief descriptions of the contents of each open window.
Tap the TAB key once again. Repeat this TAB..TAB...TAB (still holding down the ALT key) until the square is around the icon for the window you want to see
You can let go of the ALT key now.
You'll then be magically transported to the other window!
