Seen 1st or 2nd year, probably 2002 or 2003. NOT hbird moth. I watched the brown hummer sit at feeder and eat. Also saw it sit on branch of climbing rose near feeder. Saw it sitting still on branch only 5-10ft from me. was definitely a hummer. Back then I didn't know anything much about hummers. I thought the brown one was the "female" ruby throat. I didn't "like" it as much. It seemed drab my comparison. Now that I realize what a rare sighting that was for my area, I wish he/she would return.
I am not certain that the visit was in spring, may have been fall, but was not mid summer. i know that because when it gets super hot i don't hang out in the garden.Back to scutler's Journal homepage.
