How is it the weather always turns nasty when these little treasures bloom? For two straight days we've had hail, heavy rains, thunderstorms & high winds! And to try photography is next to impossible. However, since I needed a picture for documentation I tried my best. Below is the official data from the AIS Checklist database.
Ditto (MDB): (Ben Hager, R. 1981), Sdlg. MD3428RdAm. MDB, 7" (18 cm), E-L "S. white; F. dark red maroon, edged white, touch of green on hafts, blue flash at tip of white beard. SD2682RdAm: (((Rickshaw x Lilli-Var) x Bongo) x (Russet Dot x (Rickshaw x Lilli-Var))) X SD2899Vam: (Joy Bringer x Ornament). Melrose Gardens 1982 HM 1984, AM 1986, Cap-W 1988."

This is likely the only picture I'll get in 2007, and the ravages of nature are clearly seen in the battered & torn petals of the flower. MDB's deserve special honors just for blooming and surviving the worst of spring weather!

As fate would have it, I got another stem of Ditto and a somewhat better picture as well.
