Pre-chill seeds 8 to 10 weeks or place seed in a plastic bag together with growing medium and refrigerate for 3 months. Most success when seeds are started indoors. Requires light for germination 15 to 30 days at 55F. Plant oudoors 2 to 3 weeks after last frost when temps remain above 40 F. Plant in full sun or part shade with shade from hot afternoon sun in the south. Space 18 to 25 inches apart. Soil: moist, humis rich, with a pH level of 6 to 7.5. Water frequently during dry periods and keep mulched all year. Take cuttings or divide in the spring (zones 2 to 6) or autumn (zones 7 to 10). May self seed.
