I've only grown a few (three or four) arilbred irises, and I'm not too enthusiastic about this class. However, the more I get involved with them, the more they pique my interest! They have unique features different than TB's and others, most notably a 'signal' spot surrounding the beard (or where a beard should be). With this said, they are reliably hardy from my own experience, and are quite attractive in the garden. They seem to require well drained soils with no other special care.

This first one is from Howard Shockey, and is listed as "Sdlg. 90-112-D. AB (OGB), 28". The name Sheba's Jewel is appropriate with its good looks. It was introduced in 1994.
