As a teenager working at an iris farm I can remember seeing this iris many years ago. The name somehow brings back nostalgic thoughts (Seems like this only happens when we get past 50!) and memories of sweaty brows and hot summer days digging irises. In an iris nursery labeling was a very important factor; and names such as Blue Shimmer, Sable Night and Snow Flurry are never forgotten from those days. I am sad to see the AIS Check List database doesnt include the background of Blue Shimmer! They don't even include the hybridizer nor the the year of introduction which BTW is Sass 1942.
