Whenever I get my spring shipment of bulbs & perennials from American Meadows, they always place a packet or two of "wildflower" seeds in the box. As usual, I always put them in a "to do" box on a garage shelf and "usually" forget about them. While cleaning off the shelves in the garage in July I ran across these seed packs and read the contents were seeds of Chinese Forget Me Not, Annual Poppies, Coreopsis and a number of other "wild" flowers suited for mixed borders & beds. Short on time I tore open each packet and gently scattered the seeds onto bare soil in my very large mixed annual/perennial bed. This one (even in dry summer heat) managed to sprout and grow with little, if any care. My small efforts were greatly rewarded with the intense azure blue color of this garden gem.

These have been in bloom since early September, and are continuing to bloom up to today (Oct. 7, 2007). I have noticed what seems to be seeds developing where spent blooms have fallen. This will hopefully increase my supply of plants for 2008. Here is a close up of one cluster of blooms.
