On July 25, my birthday, I called from my car to a little stray beagle and watched him trot up to the car, white-tipped tail waving, and hop in with me. Love at first sight. He is such a good little guy, and he loves our other animals - both dogs and cats alike. We really hope no one claims him! So far, it's been almost a week, and no one has. We watch the lost & found ads in all the local media, and the dog pound has our number in case anyone calls them. We didn't place a Found ad because (1) if anyone really loved and missed him, they'd place a free ad in the paper and call the dog pound to report him missing and (2) we don't want every Tom, Dick and Harry calling us wanting a free beagle.
Believe me, anyone who is given our number by the dog pound will have to endure a litany of questions so we will know it's a legitimate inquiry and not just someone wanting a free beagle. We're now as protective of him as he is of us!

Just when we were almost ready to give Buddy up for adoption, I looked over and saw this....How can I deprive Emma (and Howie) of this little guy?? For more about Buddy and our life with him, see http://davesgarden.com/t/366168/ and http://davesgarden.com/t/371518/

Buddy went to live with our friend's brother, who has a farm. Buddy's a country boy now: He can pee indiscriminately (outside - what a concept!), eat all the poo he wants, and run after rabbits with another farm dog. :)
