This came to me in a trade with laurief way up in Deer Creek MN in 2006. She had explained to me previously that rhizomes do not grow large up there because of the frigid winters and short growing season. I was undaunted and gladly exchanged irises that July. Snow Tree did not bloom in 2007, but grew into a healthy clump during the interim period. I was pleasantly surprised with a nice flush of blooms two days ago on May 5, 2008! At first I didn't know what to make of it, but it quickly becomes an appealing clump. My wife, who has her own views is really attracted to it AFTER Private First Class!
The following information is from the AIS Check List database: (Robert Sobek, R. 1990) Sdlg. 82S81. SDB, 11" (28 cm), EM. White, with pronounced dark brownish purple veining over 3/4 of F.; beards white, tipped orange. Soft Air X 79S5: (Flapjack x Baby Toes). Joe Pye Weed 1990, HM 1994.

This is the clump which grew from a single rhizome in 2006! I count nine blooms open and there are still unopened buds. This would be a great iris for landscaping or to place at the front of a flower bed.
