I bought these from American Meadows in 2006 labeled as "Lilium tigrinum Red Twinkle". As a rapid, healthy growing lily it is fantastic! As far as "red" is concerned it is not red at all, but more of a deep orange with yellow highlights.
Having begun a research project on this cultivar, I am beginning to doubt the identity of this lily. I have kept the original packing label with picture from the shipment, and it looks nothing like the actual plant in bloom. Until I can verify details about this variety, there will be no more orders placed with American Meadows. Is this just one more company which does not care about the accuracy of what it sells. To be fair I want to contact them about this issue. Also noted on the actual label itself at the bottom of the picture is "Netherland Bulb Company" & "www.netherlandbulb.com".
With the foregoing thoughts in mind I will reserve judgement until the "facts" are in.
