Category: 08) Accidents and Goof ups along the way
Status: Building
Initial Notes:
We have discovered that the rafters that we got out of Canada are wavy on the bottom, and we cannot sheetrock with them like that. So...after many calls to the Canadian manufacturer, they said they would pay for the cost to fix them up to $300-$400. Yeah right? That's not going to do the job, because we have to purchase lots of 2-4's to correct the problem, plus pay the construction company to string line and fix them. The contractor is going to bring a video camera and document the whole process, and if they won't pay the cost and make it right, Dave says he's prepared to sue them. We bought the rafters, didn't cut the bindings until 5 minutes before we started hanging them, and they turned out like this? This may be a whole 'nother chapter in this housebuilding jounal. It's also something that we really don't have time to mess with right now. We have to be out of the trailer and into that house in 10 days! Okay, back to packing stuff for storage.Back to JoanJ's Journal homepage.
