Initial Notes:

This melolonthine scarab is restricted to the Bautista Canyon area west of Hemet, California. It is commonly found about 1 mile east of my house, and has been observed on one ocassion at the porch light here. It was once considered to be D. marginata, but is now considered a different species, currently being described.
