Shiny, dark green, evergreen foliage resembling Ruscus aculeatus (Butcher's Broom). Grows to three feet plus and produces beautiful red berries following the small white blooms in mid-winter. All sarcococcas are slow growers, so patience is required. Likes a lightly shaded, cool spot in the garden. This is a superior shrub and should be more widely grown where hardy. Organically enriched, moist, well-drained soil. Back to Copperbaron's Journal homepage.
