A small evergreen aromatic shrub that is found growing in northeastern Mexico in the shade of tall pines and oaks. The attractive gray-green cordate (heart-shaped) leaves are used in Mexico as a flavoring in food. The flavoring is similar to bay leaf (Laurus nobilis). We offered this plant 8 years ago and have not been able to find it in seed till the fall 2001. Native to northeastern Mexico. Grows to 5'h x 7'w.
