If you don't have an account yet, visit the registration page to sign up.
You must have text entered in the "Your Message" area before you may upload a photo. Type your post into the text box like you would any time you wished to make a post, and then do the following:
(1) Beneath the "Your Message" text box, there's a box which says "Image (JPG, PNG or GIF):" above it. Click the BROWSE button to the box's right.
(2) The CHOOSE FILE diaglogue will pop up.
(3) Click through the folders on your computer until you get to the folder containing your pictures.
(4) Click the photo file you wish to upload.
(5) Click OPEN.
(6) The path and file name will be embedded in the "Image" box.
(7) At this point, you can click PREVIEW. Make sure the photo you uploaded is the one you intended. If you accidently chose the wrong one, no problem: just hit the BACK button on your browser and go through steps 1-6 again to choose a different photo.
If you have more than one photo in the same theme (such as pictures around your garden today, shots of your trip to the Smokies, pictures of your farm, etc.), it's good to post them together in one thread.
Uploading additional photos in one thread is as easy as opening your thread again and repeating steps 1-7 for each photo.
PHOTO RE-SIZING: Ideally, the longest dimension on your pictures should be 640 pixels (640x480 for landscape orientation or 480x640 for portrait orientation).
DG does convert images larger than 999 pixels wide to 640x480 automatically; however, uploading larger images will take longer for you, especially if you're on dial-up, so resizing them first is a good idea.
