The Japanese Stewartia is a beautiful small tree or large shrub with several seasons of interest. In early summer this deciduous relative of the Camellia bears 3” white flowers with yellow stamens in the center. It has good fall color and exfoliating bark for winter interest. Best in a well-drained fertile soil with semi shade it is more upright and more easily grown than the native Stewartias. Z. 4-8
