Initial Notes:

seeds require cold period for germination. Use same method as with clematis.

Plant 1/16 inch deep in peaty media. Germination in 30 to 90 days at 50F. May be slow an dirregular.

new seeds placed with media (peat moss/vermiculite)in plastic bag and placed in refrigerator.

seeds marked "large hosta" placed on wet paper towel and placed in refrigerator.

  Apr 23, 2001  
seeds planted a few days ago and placed in greenhouse.

  Apr 24, 2001  
seeds chilled in refrigerator sprouted, covers removed.

  May 29, 2001  
seedlings planted in back shade garden
