palmbob's Journal: Curly Ponytail Palm - Beaucarnea guatemalensis back planter 2

  • Member: palmbob
  • Journal: Default
  • Category: Given Plants (includes sold)
  • Status: planted in ground at new home

Initial Notes:

Purchased 1-04 from Pasadena nursery, and put in large, clay pot. Gets morning water from neighbor's sprinkler and has grown noticably since. New leaf-bases nice maroon coloration. Full blazing sun in summer- got some initial sun-burn. Freezes last week damaged the top, flattest leaves (surprised me- never seen frost damage on this genus). Still alive and well, though.

one of reasons I bought this plant was this great coloration... which, since, hasn't been that apparent.. hmm

Decided to plant in back... had a good spot for it... and worried someone would eventually run off with it (guess there have been some plant thefts in the neighborhood, and had some stuff stolen out of my yard already... not plants- but a pot and some ornamental things..) In planter number 2 south side.

trimmed it up this month so now mostly 3 main heads (took off about 8-9 smaller ones)... can actually see stuff below it, too.
