Got a tall (5') one gal underpotted palm (roots out several feet in all directions) at palm sale last month. Kept under shade of eucalyptus until two weeks ago when shade was removed by landowner (tree cut back to wood only)- leaves got both burned from sun and cold. Moved to side yard where it will have to reside until we move this month to new home.
Planted out front very corner inset of house where I hope will get no sun in summer. Hardly any green leaves left from sunburn and frost a few months ago... but new leaf about to open up.

New leaf opening up.. plant actually looks healthy finally, as has 3 good leaves- all dead ones removed. Getting a tad bit of sun directly, but not hurting it much.

been horribly hot (over 100 for 24 days in a row now, and max nearly 120). Well, obviously this is NOT what this palm wants

two new leaves that look good at the same time... amazing! Sun is further south now, so shouldn't be a problem until next summer again

another new leaf, and this one will keep looking good all winter I hope... shouldn't fry again until next July... sigh
