Got recently at local nursery for next to nothing... this is a relatively rare cultivar with unusually thick, leathery leaves that are strongly plicated/ruffled. Not sure exactly how to taxonomically describe this plant. But nice in that is much more resistant to snails, heat etc., and just looks nicer than standard Bird's Nest ferns.

Moved back on the porch (was sitting in the fern garden in a pot for 4 months)... got too bit up by snails and looking sort of sad.

did well over summer despite many days over 110F. Did get burned a bit. OK now, though

Ouch.. freeze didn't wipe this plant out, but sure changed its looks for a few years.

a nice green leaf coming up... will be probably a good 1-2 years before this plant looks good again
