Initial Notes:

This is one way of creating shortcuts on your Windows desktop. What I like about this method is, you have all of your start menu folders visible and it's easy to go through and copy the shortcuts you want.

1. Right-click on your Start button and select "Explore All Users"

2. In the explorer window, you'll see a two panes. The left pane contains all the folders on your hard drive. The right shows the contents of the currently selected folder. As you can see here, the Start Menu folder is selected on the left, and on the right you see the contents of that folder.

We want to look at the Program folder, so double-click it in the right pane.

3. Let's go to the Games folder on the Start Menu. Double-click the Games folder to open it.

4. The contents of the Games folder are displayed. Let's make a shortcut for the Solitaire game on the desktop. RIGHT-click the Solitaire icon....

5. Still holding down that RIGHT mouse button, drag the icon over to the DESKTOP folder on the left. Any shortcut or file you put on your desktop will be in this folder.

6. Once you have your cursor over the DESKTOP folder, release the right mouse button. You'll see several choices, and in this case you should select the "copy" option by left-clicking it.

The program's shortcut will now be copied to the desktop.

Repeat these steps for each program you'd like to have a shortcut for on your desktop.
