There is wide disagreement in the scientific community about whether Yarrow is native to North America or was introduced from Europe several hundred years ago. It is attractive in the flower garden or meadow and spreads by underground rootstocks and seeds. Can become invasive, but is a tough wildflower prized for its foliage and flowers.
