These are seedlings that sprout up every year under the hedge. They also appear in other areas where the birds "plant" them. Easily pulled out at this stage and not much problem.

These are just finishing their second year of growth. They are doing well but still require occasional watering since their roots have not reached the undergroung water table yet. They were started from seedlings I harvested from under the large hedge at the back of the property.

At just 3 years these have reached the ht. of 5-6 ft and are filling in nicely. I do pinch the tops off 2 times a year to encourage branching out.
too large for the new garden I did not bring any with me...but there is one in the corner that will have to be kept cut back drastically due to size! 2003
