palmbob's Journal: A petro? Aloe petrophila NOT front steps

  • Member: palmbob

  • Category: Aloes
  • Status: planted in ground at new home

Initial Notes:

planted this plant as a dinky rootless seedling from CCC back in Jan 05... was distichous and grey then, in a 3" pot. Something they got from the Huntington. Was labeled as A petricola or something like that, but looks just like Aloe harlana and nothing like any Aloe that starts with a P. Suckering well already by end of summer and very sharp, large leaves

Pretty sure this is really Aloe greatheadii var davyana... just like several other aloes ended up being... hmph!

dug up largest sucker and sent to Pakistan. hope it arrives alive. thought it could be aloe harlana, but now realize that's totally unlikely... as it suckers and A harlana doesnt... not striped, and the flowers is wrong... and, i found out the original tag said A petrophila anyway... oh well.
