'Heartbreaker', TB, D. Hall, 1964: A very old iris, with classic shape and form, and at that time, quite an advancement in pink irises. It is (in my description) a soft pastel, baby pink. As a collector, this iris seems to thrive on neglect. As a matter of experience it grows and blooms much better when left alone.

This clump is in a perennial bed with some antique roses, asiatic lilies and daylilies. It seems to enjoy being undisturbed, unlike the modern cultivars.

I had a lot of trouble with wind the day this was shot, but even with wind it turned out fairly well. Note the beautiful range of pink in the standards and falls. The beards are outstanding!
