This is among the top five irises I grow: It takes a lot to get me ranting and raving over an iris, and this one is "a lot". Beautiful beyond description; its colors, shape, form and appearance are simply exceptional! I'll use the following pictures to explain my feelings about this plant, beginning with this one.

In this picture I focused on a cluster of blooms trying to keep the central one up close. I can understand why hybridizers love this iris for crosses.
